Cold

Service department is freezing this morning and my hands are hurting pretty good.

I am hoping that it does actually warm up for the weekend like they say it will.

Slept terribly last night. Took some cold medication before I went to bed thinking it would help me sleep, annoying thing was, I couldnt get to sleep at all. Pretty sure I slept for about an hour in total.

Sigh.

That Bad Thing

Looks like we all dodged the bullet on it. Looks like my boss was able to get around the broken parts and the remaining bits will be put in a dark corner to be forgotten about.

We hope.

Cold This Morning

Clouds have rolled in and the sunshine from yesterday is gone. It looks like today is going to be cold and quite possibly wet.

Fall is here and it looks like he's ready to set up shop for a few months.

Winter cant be far behind.

Something Bad

Participated in something today that I shouldnt have.

I was under the impression today that it was ok to do something. I was told it was ok, but unfortunately the person who said it was ok, wasn't serious.

I did the bad thing thinking it was ok and it wasnt and now I (with two other people) may get into a huge boat load of trouble.

Bad feelings in the pit of my stomach this afternoon.

Ok. Something More Serious

The blog was looking extremely empty today, so I thought that tonight, after finally finnishing one exam, the time was right to put down some real stuff into the white space.

The Exam
I have been studying for my Windows XP exam for months now. I think at some point, I didnt think that I would ever get the exam written and passed. This exam is the first step on the road to getting my Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification and it will be followed up by at least two exams for Windows server 2003, a security exam and more then likely an exam that covers Microsoft Exchange Server. The exams and the certification as well are steps down a road that began a LONG time ago now. I started with my Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for Windows NT 4 and added on an exam that covered Windows 95. That was in 1999 and it wasnt until last year that I actually began to make a small amount of use of all that time so long ago.

I woke up early this morning and right off the bat I was wound up tight and I was super cranky. I swore at the cats and I was edgy all the way to work (7:30). While at work, I wound up a couple things and listened to some music to calm down before I went off to the exam. I have NEVER had an exam experience like this. First, the elevator almost didnt come when I pressed the button. Then when I got into the elevator, it stalled. No really, the damn thing shuddered hard and stopped... between floors. I swear I almost died. When I got to the testing center, they hadnt turned on any of the computers and the lady who had to sign me in, wasnt even ready for me. The test itself was stupid. It took 30 seconds for each question to load and when I was done and pressed the "End Exam" button, it took so long for the computer to finnish marking my exam, I thought the computer had crashed. Thankfully it hadnt and when the words "Passed Exam" came up, I sighed a HUGE sigh of relief. One down, at least 4 more to go.

Work
What can I say? Not as good as it could be. My boss is as supportive as he can be and he is helping us out as best he can, but when things are as they are...

The problem employee will be let go soon and his replacements will be hired soon. Hopefully sooner then later.

Life
Dont have one. Work and these exams have been driving me crazy. Some time after christmas, I think that I should have some extended time to myself.

I'm Here

Still alive.

Very busy.

No time to write.

Sigh.

Not Overwhelmed Yet

I know it seems like I have dropped off the face of the earth again, but let me assure you that it isnt the case this time. Well, not FULLY the case.

Since coming back to regular work from the Fringe at the end of July, things have been extremely stressful and not much fun. People went on holidays and we had a huge rush of people bringing computers in to be serviced and because of those two things there were dozens of machines waiting to be worked on. This massive amount of work lasted well into September and only just this past Friday did things get back to normal. Last week we hired a new tech and so far not only does he appear to be fitting in, he also appears to know his stuff and be able to get stuff done. Our local idiot should be afraid for his job.

The other thing that is keeping me from putting too much here has been the massive amount of studying I have had to do. Work wants me to pick up a large handful of certifications and studying for them has had me running hard. Once the first couple are written and there really isnt any hard pressure to get one written, you should see more posts from me.

Friday

Finally the end of the week is here and it looks like the coming Monday might actually be somewhat decent. The new guy in service is coming along much better then I think we could have hoped for and it seems to me that he will be an excellent addition to service.

Right now I am trying like mad to study for my Windows XP Professional certification. Work requested it out of me when they hired me more then a year ago, but I never found the time to study for and write the exam. Now, with work picking up and things getting more serious around service, my boss has been asking me about it.

Well, despite the fact that I am writing this, I am really busy and I have to put a stop to this for the moment.

Oh well.

Ok This Time For Sure

Every day this week, I have sat down at my computer at work and desperately tried to get something done here. Every day I sit down and try and every day I get distracted or I am too busy.

Sigh. Ok.

AN HOUR passed inbetween those first two sentances and now. This is a waste of time today.

Faith

Began to take more of an interest in Kaylin's beliefs and religious ideas today. Now dont get me wrong, before today I cared very much about what she was interested in and what she believed, but I didnt look into it for myself. Well this morning (actually before today, but today is when I began in ernest) I began to look more deeply into what she believes and how I can understand it more. She means a lot to me and I want her to know that what means a lot to her means a lot to me.

I started here: www.kemet.org. As with anything this important (to Kaylin and many others) I have respect for it. One thing I was taught growing up is to respect other peoples religions, even if I dont directly believe in it myself. However, at this point in my life I while I dont directly believe in anything, I dont actively say that I disbelieve anything either. Kaylin has made this new faith a large part of her life and has changed how she does things so that she can incorporate it into her life.

Kaylin means a lot to me and I regret not making this effort sooner. From today on I will be making what she believes more a part of my life.

End of A Long Weekend

Sorry for the lack of posts.

Went to the lake for the weekend. Some pictures might be put up later.

I'll write something more later today.

Mixed Bag

The weather got pretty unpleasent yesterday and its carried into today. Yesterday around noonish it began to get really cloudy and it poured for about an hour, cleared up and got sunny and then got all cloudy/windy again. Unfortunately the clouds have not yet cleared up, and this morning is not looking nice at all.

Yesterday Shauna finally got the call that she has been waiting for now for almost three years. Yesterday afternoon, the collections company that was getting money out of us for her debt, called and said that the loan was paid off and that she no longer owed them any money. Needless to say Shauna was VERY happy. We are patiently waiting out the next few days to see if another loan being owed pops up. The last time that they told her that she had paid off her loan, a new person, from the SAME company, called her and said she owed them more money. Hopefully this time its all done with and we can go on to getting me out of debt.

Work is kind of getting better, or at least perhaps I can see some hope of it getting better, which is more then I could have said a few days ago. My direct boss is back in service working on stuff around me and I wont be surprised if in a few days we see a new face floating around the service department. At the moment though things stil arent that great. i wish I could say that I think things will get better before they completely fall apart, but it doesnt look that way.

Well, as I figured, work is getting in the way of my pleasure and I need to end this entry here. I WILL write something computer related later today.
