Readers

One thing that all blog writers want (I wont call them or myself authors, writing in a blog does not make anyone an author) is a large number of readers. I get about one or two unique readers a week here. That is, about one person per week is new here and never been to the site before. The remaining are people who have been here once or twice before and then myself. I keep all the links I like to read there and its also my home page.

I want people to come and read my site. I want people to come and check me out and follow my links and tell their friends about my site, and tell them to come here. Its a vanity thing. I want to know that my readers are more then just a couple friends, my dad and my fiance (not that I dont appreciate their vists, I do, REALLY do appreciate them). I go and read Wil Wheaton's site (you can find the link in my links section) almost every day now. I really like his style of story telling and I like that he share important personal stuff with the world. It makes a connection with me and his other readers, each time he writes something personal and honest. I would like to have my site be like his one day. A large number of loyal readers, people who, for the most part, have intelligent and positive feedback on what I write and that it makes them feel good or cry or happy when they read what I have written. Wil is a talented guy.

I try numerous things to get people to come here. Number one in all that is I have a fair number of links on my collection of pages. I link to sites with interesting content and a well done layout. If the layout is bland but the content is excellent, then how it looks is irrelevant (which should be the case with all of them). I like to recommend sites that I have linked to my friends. I like to tell people about the sites that I go to and enjoy. Sometimes people who would never have found that site otherwise, rave about a site I have recommended, which is something I like. And I REALLY REALLY like it when they tell people where they found this new site from. It kinda irks me when they say "I found this excellent site, blah, and its so good, you should go there." without saying that they were told about this site from a friend. Bad ettiqute perhaps?

Well its late and I am pooped.
