Yay!

Wahoo!

New layout seems to be working ok and boy is it fast!

I'll post something longer later.

New Layout Coming!

Ok, in the couple of hours here I had before going to work, I have worked on a new layout. Well ok, its not a new layout but rather one we have seen here before but with a colour change to something I liked before a while ago and never used here.

The reason I ditched the layout the first time around was that it was loading way too slow for some reason. This time around I am going to try and trim away all the style stuff and code stuff I dont need (and all the while praying that I dont screw it up).

I dont know for sure if I will get it done by the end of tonight or not, but I think its a possibility. Come back again tonight to take a peek.

AND

Matthew, I fixed the link!

For Now

For now this will be the template that you will be seeing here at the wonderful world of Random Fusion!

Yay!

Please pardon the defaultish look for now.

As Apu says: Please come again.

Quicky Before Work

Off to work in a few moments here (8:30 to 5 today) and I thought I would make a fast post.

I am going to have to ditch the layout I have at the moment and use one of the defaults for the moment. For some reason the stupid site isnt fully coming up in my browser and I suspect that this is probably happening for everyone, so off it goes.

I have been very tired lately (working 6 days a week and then some will do that to you) and so my postings have been sporadic and short. I do want to post more so please be patient with me.

Please come back tonight to see if I got off my lazy ass and did some site work or not.

Thanks.

Well, Ive Lost Her Now

Shauna has begun here foray into CSS and is completely entranced. She is currently working through a template she found and trying to turn it into what she would like.

I remember how I was when CSS started being cool and fun for me instead of the freaking pain in the ass it is right now. I stayed up late and always wanted to be in front of the pc playing around.

Well, hopefully i will get to see her soon. :)

Problem

I seem to be having a bit of a problem with the site.

Let me know with a comment if the bottom ends wrong some how.

The Neverending Quest...

...for a layout that works right for me. The layout your seeing on Monday, October 27 (cuz I have no doubt if you read this later on, it wont be the same layout) isn't coming up right in IE for some reason. The height of the main container isnt staying at 100% but is stopping where the links sections end. I will try and work on it when I get home from work tonight, although I have no idea what I will replace it with.

Readers!
I know your out there somewhere! I can sense you! But I dont know who you are! Please! Leave some sort of comment so I can get a better sense of who is coming to the site! Even if you think the site isnt any good (leave some sort of helpful suggestion then) say something!

I will TRY and do some writing tonight and tomorrow.

Messing With MT

For those of us who are either new to this or not html and css wizards, the process of making a Moveable Type blog look perfect (to us) can be a painful and annoying process. This is an entry for me to test the ability of my categories listing.

I realize Css is more of a software type thing, but hey.

Re: Lack of Posts

Over the past few weeks youve seen a lot of changes here in the way the site looked and what could be found here. Some of the time this has been a lot of fun and the rest of the time it has caused me to pull out a lot of hair in fits of anger.

I am not the best when it comes to html, css or anything else here (could you tell?) and it has been a source of great frustration for me that I simply can not seem to be able to get what I want out of this stupid blog.

Well the frustrations are starting to become more then the good parts of this site and I am considering stopping for a while to study html and css in detail. Or perhaps I'll just delete the whole damn thing and go read a book in stead.

I am simply not happy with this. As far as I can tell, no one reads this damn shit regularly. No one leaves comments. No one tells me that they come here and all the damn people I know....all use fucking live journal and have "friends lists" (thanks again heather for getting me on there). I apologize for the language shift but I am now writing right from the heart and I am angry at how little this stupid fucking blog has worked right.

Sigh, well now that I am all angry, its time to go to work.

Lovely.

Cleaning House

Well, once again I've gone and done a little house cleaning around here. Last night the big computer was acting a little funny and wasnt doing what I told it to, so I figured that tomorrow (being now) I would fix up the computer and reinstall everything back to working order. As of about five minutes ago, I finally got the last bit of main windows stuff and my anti virus software installed. There is still some minor stuff to instal, but the tough part is over and done with.

I will do a sort of step by step process for what I did over in two fishes.

Enjoy.

October 19, 2003

Ok, Maybe Not

Ok. So there werent any huge new changes this evening.

After spending half the day in front of this infernal machine, I decided to watch a couple hours of tv and veg for a bit. I fiddled with the entry date thingamajig doo hickey above this to expand the date a bit and that was all I could muster.

I most definately be working on the site some more. I want to make it a little more leaner and meaner and more professional looking.

Look over in Two Fishes for something new tonight.

Finally!

Ok, after hours and hours and more hours of working on the style sheet of the site and its finally in a state that isnt making me crazy. I think I know how to change almost every little part in the site and its getting more and more interesting (read:infuriating).

Whats left for this layout is a little messing with the border around the middle sections. The date and time look at the top of each daily post (I liked the look of the last version) and then some font work. I like the way the links look and I think that the archives section is ALMOST where I want it to be. I think this evening will garner some more interesting changes for the site.

Come back again later tonight and hopefully youll see something new.

I hope.

Double Sigh

Ok.

Lots of working going into a new layout.

Very frustrated, but perservering. Dont mind the layout right now.

Come back at the end of the day.

October 16, 2003

Sigh

As you can see, the previous look is gone.

I was trying to play with the style sheet and I buggered it up. I will be playing with some new styles over the next day or so. But for the moment, you can read this and the stuff on the site.

I am beat. Time for bed.

Saturday Afternoons

Saturday afternoons are for lounging around and doing whatever you want whenever you want to do it. Today I am spending my time, messing around on the computer, sleeping and (as shocking as this may be to some of you) cleaning up the bathroom. I was just in there scrubbing the mildew away from the tub and it is looking amazing.

It rained late last night and this morning, but, as the weather lady promised, the rain stopped and the sun has come out to dry everything up. Its kind of a shame, since all the leaves had that cool dry crackling sound when you stepped on them and it made going for walks a lot of fun. I have yet to actually go outside so a comment on the temperature (it looks nice) would be moot.

Dont expect too much from me this weekend in terms of posts, as my mom is in town, I work tomorrow night (no family turkey dinner for me) and I am planning on doing some more layout work here rather then content.

More Later.

Living In A Land Of Confusion

This weeks interesting news is of the building I live in.

Apparently, for some time now, the owners of the building I live in have been either improperly notifying the Tenants Rental Board of the amount of rent thay have been charging or they have just been charging too much and the TRB is just now noticing. Some people in the building were then told to begin paying rent directly to the Rental Board instead of the owners of the building. This is completely legal. If you feel you are being screwed in any way, you can go to your RTB and pay them and then they will pay your rent for you. Your landlord cant do anything to you while this is going on.

So, in my building, it now seems there are a handful of people who are paying rent in this fashion. Apparently, the landlords/managers, were shutting off heat, power, and water to those people and even admitted to it over the phone. One of the two men was arrested for mischif and now has a restraining order against him, barring him from the building.

The day after the manager guy was arrested (or two days possibly) only those people who were paying to the RB, were given eviction notices. The owners say that those apartments are to be rennovated and the people have three months to move out.

Again apparently the RB has stepped in and halted that process, but it is within the landlords right to do so. The thing that has screwed over the landlords is that this has to be done in good faith, which is certainly not being shown here. As far as tonight goes, the information flowing around the computers of the building is small tonight so it seems like things could be quiet for the weekend (fingers crossed).

Shauna and I are scared that something will happen to us and are quietly waiting for that letter under the door saying we have to move. Shauna and I are not on the list of people paying rent to the RB and so I dont think we will get one (the owners may think we are good tenants, but I am still worried.

I will fill in more details as they come to me.

October 6, 2003

Nothing? Ok, Something.

Not too much to write about tonight. Just got in from walking to Shoppers Drug Mart with Shauna and all I can say is, damn its nice out there for early October. Occasionally as fall progresses here on the prairies, we get a few days or even if we are lucky a few weeks of nice warm weather and the city just shines. Today was one of those days. When I left work the sun was still up and making things all warm and shiny and gorgeous. This city is, I believe, at its best in the fall on days like this. When the sun shines brightly through the golden leaves on every tree, the green grass looks so green you almost think its fake, and the breeze is light enough and cool enough to make sure you don?t get too warm. No matter how bad of a day you have, when you leave the office or your classes or just step out into the sun, it all melts away and you smile. I know I did.

Work has been interesting, sort of, for the last few shifts and tomorrow holds the promise to be interesting with a capital I. Tomorrow is customer appreciation day (the first Tuesday of every month) and its supposed to be one of the busiest days of the month, and I have been told there is a very good chance I will be on till. Not that I mind, its just that I am so new at it, that I can get flustered a little too easy. Not that the people coming through should be giving me flak for it, I?m new at it.

No new news on the job front yet. But tonight (or tomorrow) I will begin on THE 100!!!! Yup, the 100, I grabbed a local business magazine from my dad?s office last week and it lists the top 100 companies in Manitoba and I am going to send a resume or apply online for all of them. One or two might want me.

Ok, so there was some stuff to talk about.

End of the Weekend

Finally!

FINALLY!

After weeks and weeks of trying and failing and getting mad, I have finally gotten a Kings of Chaos account. It is basically a massive online roleplaying game that all my friends have been playing.

Click on this link to join my army.

Join!!!

Hehehe.

I'll write more later.

October 2, 2003

I Need To Know Andrew!

Ok, so you need to know.

Well, work at The Bay has been fun actually. Hard to be sure, but the environment of the employees, as far as the grocery store goes, is fairly light and friendly. All the people I work with seem to get along and that is MOST important in a good working environment. On Monday or Tuesday (I forget), I was trained on how to close the grocery part of the store up at the end of the day. Mostly it involves a lot of turning off lights and making sure there are no customers left trying to buy something at the last moment. Once all the lights are out (with some left on for safety and what not) it gets VERY creepy there and would be totally perfect for a horror flick.

Tuesday and today I spent some time working the cash registers and learning how to do CASH. Yup, I get to play with that thing that makes your food go "boop!" and then tells you how much you owe. Its not that hard and much to everyones amazement, I am catching on to it very quickly.

I am now desperately working to try and make the look of the page something I feel good about. Dont get me wrong, the site looks good and I am happy with it, sorta. I want a tighter look to it. The border around the site is too big. The lack of colour is something I want to fix, but I am having some trouble with.

Antipixel

and

Mediatinker

Are two sites that I REALLY admire/like/want to steal/would kill to know how/all of the above. I want mine to look something like those, but with a sense of myself stuck in, cuz imitation is flatery, but its kinda boring too. I love going to those two sites on a daily basis and seeing how I can get the feel they have achived.

It also doesnt help they are two great blogs.

Life at home is going good now, HELL way better now that the landlord has turned the heat on in the building and we have thawed out. The lack of heat was playing on both Shauna's and my moods and we were snapping at each other pretty good. If you head over to Kaylin's Space now or have been there lately, you will see that Shauan has quit smoking again and is making a hard go of it this time around. I would guess that it gets harder to do the more times you try. So far she has been very good and has survived a few situations where she used to smoke at or during. I cant tell her often enough how proud I am of her every time she feels down about. She will beat this and move on to the next great success for herself.

Cash troubles are looming over us at the moment and I am worried about not having enough cash to cover our responsibilities. Part of this cash worries, is more anger too. I am owed some money from my former employer and its annoying me that for a long time he wanted an invoice for the money he would pay me and now is SLOW to give me the money now that I have an invoice ready to send to him. I hope that these cash troubles dont get any worse.

Well. Talk to you later.

Phantom Title

WEll, testing something new. I am using the new Bookmarklets tool from MT. Lets see if it works.
